CHARR partnered with Afrimat Hemp to support their mission of developing the hemp industry in South Africa. This collaboration combined our expertise with LCAs, supply chains and data requirements to develop strategic insights to enhance environmental performance and carbon efficiency across their operations.

CHARR conducted a Product Carbon Footprint and Feasibility Study to evaluate the environmental impacts of Afrimat Hemp’s processes, from raw material sourcing to end products. This analysis provided actionable insights into areas for improvement, ensuring that operations align with both economic viability and sustainability goals. By identifying opportunities for resource optimization and carbon footprint reduction, the study laid the foundation for strategic growth.

A detailed Product Carbon Footprint Analysis will also performed in 2025, quantifying greenhouse gas emissions at each stage of the supply chain up to the final products. This critical evaluation will equip Afrimat Hemp with the data needed to set measurable sustainability targets and track progress. Our consulting services offered tailored strategies to integrate these findings into everyday practices, driving both environmental and operational efficiencies.

Looking ahead, CHARR is developing a custom protocol, "Source to Final-Product", designed to ensure traceability and sustainability throughout the hemp supply chain. This protocol will provide a comprehensive framework for monitoring and improving carbon efficiency from raw material sourcing to final product delivery, reinforcing Afrimat Hemp’s commitment to a greener future.
